There are three main categories of fees associated with an application for Probate (or Letters of Administration, or Resealing) in Tasmania:
- Supreme Court of Tasmania Filing Fee
- Fixed Costs
- Solicitor Fee
1 Supreme Court of Tasmania Filing Fee
The Supreme Court of Tasmania will require an application filing fee in order to provide a grant. The amount of the filing-fee corresponds to the gross value of the Tasmanian estate.
The following are the current filing fees for the respective estates, for the 2023/2024 financial year:

| $2,000,000 or more, but less than $5,000,000 | $1,767.54 |
| $5,000,000 or more | $2,123.54 |
The gross value of the estate is found by summing the value of all Tasmanian-based estate assets, such as bank accounts, real estate, shares, acommodation bonds etc. Note: in most cases, super & life insurance are not included in this gross value calculation.
2 Fixed Costs
This Supreme Court of Tasmania will charge a fixed fee, known as a “Provisional assessment of application documentation by Registrar”. The cost of this fee is $170.88.
If the application is submitted and the court requests further information, this is referred to as a "requisition". In addition to extra paperwork needing to be filed with the court, the fee for a requisition is $56.96.
3 Probate Solicitor Fees
Hourly billable rates / phone calls / printing / postage?.
